The only meeting of Morocco and Croatia was in the semi-finals of the 1996 King Hassan II Tournament in Casablanca. Croatia won 7-6 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Croatia was runner-up at the 2018 World Cup after three successive group stage exits.
